Abstract

Pulmonary Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, which enters the body through inhaled air and spreads in the lungs. In 2021, Mataram City detected a total of 739 TB cases. Many TB patients still exhibit low adherence to taking their medication. The aim of this research is to investigate the influence of reminding through WhatsApp on medication adherence in pulmonary tuberculosis patients and to observe the improvement in the level of medication adherence in these patients. The method used is an analytical observational study with a quasi-experimental design, employing a prospective pre-test and post-test approach. Data is collected from outpatient patients, and medication reminders are sent to the patients. The research results indicate a significant improvement in medication adherence among pulmonary TB patients, with a significant value from the Wilcoxon test (p = 0.000, <0.05). The conclusion drawn from this study is that there is an influence of reminding through WhatsApp on medication adherence in pulmonary tuberculosis patients at the Regional General Hospital of Mataram City.
