In-Text Citations Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Avoid citing references as 'in press' as it implies that the item has been accepted for publication. In general, in-text citations can be written using two methods: 1) the author's name and publication year are placed inside parentheses, and 2) the author's name is placed outside the parentheses, while the year is placed inside the parentheses. Citations refer to the APA style 7th edition rules, which simply require including the last name and year.
Web References As a minimum, the full URL must be provided along with the date the reference was last accessed. Further information, if known (DOI, author names, dates, reference to a publication source, etc.), should also be provided. Web references can be included in the reference list. Example: AOAC. (2002). Guidelines for single laboratory validation of chemical methods for dietary supplements and botanicals. AOAC International, 1-38.
Reference Management Software When preparing your manuscript, you must use the Mendeley Reference Manager. All publications cited in the text should be presented in the reference list in alphabetical order. Please ensure that the spelling of author names and dates is exactly the same in the text as in the reference list.
Placement Rules for Tables, Figures, Graphs, and Others
Mathematics & Equations Use italics for variables, bold for vectors and matrices, script for transforms, and sans serif for tensors. Use superscripts and subscripts in superior or inferior positions; do not use raised and lowered fonts. Write equations in the article using the Built-in Equation tool provided by Microsoft Word. Please add equation numbers using the Tab Stop Position.
Tables Tables must be submitted as editable text and not as images. Each table must have a title, and all columns must have headings. Column headings should be arranged so that their relationship to the data is clear and refers to the column below. Each table must be cited in the text by defining the table number. Tables are placed next to the relevant text in the article. Please avoid using vertical rules and shading in table cells.
Figures Figures must be submitted as editable graphics and not as images. Cite each figure in numerical order in the text. Clearly mark the orientation on the figure, if in doubt. Ensure each illustration has a caption. Provide captions separately, not attached to the figure. A caption should comprise a brief title (not on the figure itself) and a description of the illustration. Keep text in the illustrations themselves to a minimum but explain all symbols and abbreviations used. Indicate latitude and longitude on maps. Color figures, foldouts, pocket maps, etc., can be accommodated, but the color charges for publishing these special features must be borne by the author.
